Description:
The USS Constitution Museum is celebrating our favorite canineâ??s birthday with a free all day event â?" A Dog-Gone Birthday Bash with Guerriere the Terrier! Join us on September 4, 2010 from 10:00-5:00 for a full day of free fun commemorating Guerriere the Terrier, the real-life dog onboard USS Constitution during the War of 1812. Enjoy doggie-inspired treats for humans, listen to stories of seafaring hounds, sing along to shaggy shanty tunes, and meet a real Navy Yard work dog. Then follow Guerriereâ??s paw prints to our upstairs exhibit, All Hands on Deck: A Sailorâ??s Life in 1812, where you can join Guerriere and the rest of the crew and hoist a sail, fire a cannon, swing in a hammock and scrub the deck. Please note: This event is for humans only, so kindly ask your four-legged friends to "sit" and "stay" at home. Special thanks to the Highland Street Foundation for supporting this

Mother's Plunge - Boston
This one-day retreat hosted by Karen Maezen Miller is designed especially for mothers, but everyone is welcome because there is no prerequisite for finding personal peace. The day lasts from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and includes continental breakfast, casual lunch, personal encouragement, spiritual refreshment, easy laughter, beginning meditation, wisdom teaching, and yoga or other mindfulness practices. The Plunge promises a complete immersion in love that will give you a whole new view on your life and your relationships. A perfect day to share with a friend, sister, mother or partner.

We'll also enjoy a reading by my special guest Katrina Kenison, author of "The Gift of an Ordinary Day" and "Mitten Strings for God."

Naturally, we'll be on the water. Our host location is the Seaport Academy, an alternative school tucked away in the heart of the historic Charlestown Navy Yard on the ground floor of a beautiful waterfront condominium with breathtaking views of Boston. Public transit is easy via subway and short water taxi ride from Longwharf, and paid parking will be available in the building or nearby public garages.

Early bird registration is $75 until midnight August 14. August 15 or after, including at the door, $85.
